Your hand stays yours
The short version
MouseShape has no accounts, no signing up and no advertising trackers. Your answers are saved in your own browser, scores are worked out without storing who asked, and photos taken with the measuring tool never leave your device.
What stays in your browser
Your fit finder answers (hand size, grip and preferences), your shortlist and which matches you've rated are saved in your browser's local storage so the site remembers them between visits. Clear your browser's site data to remove them. The answers also appear in the address of the results page, so anyone you share that link with can see them.
How scores are worked out
To score the mice, your answers (hand size, grip, preferences and any mouse you said you own) are sent to our server, which sends the scores straight back. The answers aren't stored or linked to you, and your browser may keep the scores for a day so it doesn't have to ask again.
Match ratings
If you answer "Good match for you?" on a mouse, we keep that rating together with the answers it was scored for, the mouse and its score, to make the scores better. Nothing that identifies you, such as your IP address, is kept with it, so a rating can't be traced back to you. Ratings are kept for as long as they help tune the scores.
Camera and hand photos
The hand measuring tool asks for camera access only when you start it. The image is analysed on your device by a model served from this site. No photo or video is uploaded or stored, and the camera turns off when you leave the tool.
Analytics
We count page views with privacy-first analytics that use no cookies and don't track you across sites (Cloudflare Web Analytics). We see totals such as pages viewed, page load speed, referring sites, country and device type, never who you are.
Affiliate links
"Check price on Amazon" buttons are affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate MouseShape earns from qualifying purchases. If you click one, Amazon may set cookies to credit the referral; that is covered by Amazon's own privacy notice. Links to brand stores work the same way when they are affiliate links. None of this affects rankings.
Hosting
The site is served by Cloudflare, which processes standard request data such as IP addresses to deliver pages and protect against abuse. We don't keep server logs of our own.
