Measure

How to measure your hand

You need a ruler or tape measure and about a minute. No ruler? Use a photo and a sheet of paper below.

Length

Lay your hand flat, fingers together. Measure from the crease where your palm meets your wrist to the tip of your middle finger. Most adult hands are 17–20 cm.

Width

Measure straight across the widest part of your palm, over the knuckles at the base of your fingers. Leave your thumb out. Most adult hands are 8–10 cm.

Measure from a photo

A sheet of paper gives the most accurate result. Your photo stays on your device and is never uploaded.

  1. Put a sheet of A4 or US Letter paper on a darker table.
  2. Lay your hand flat on it, fingers together, thumb out to the side.
  3. Scan the code below with your phone. This page opens there and the photo takes itself.
